Stablecoin treasury for AI and cloud businesses

Some AI businesses are paid in stablecoins but owe their suppliers in dollars. A cloud reseller’s Web3 customers pay on-chain while the cloud bill is due in USD every month. A stablecoin treasury closes that loop and ties every payment to the obligation it settles.

Stablecoins pass through a conversion gate and leave as fiat payments to a cloud data center

The problem: receipts and bills on different rails

Crypto-linked infrastructure operators and Web3 cloud customers can receive or hold on-chain funds while their suppliers require bank payments. Upstream cloud obligations, such as a hyperscaler bill, settle in fiat.

Cloud distribution already runs through partners. AWS allows Solution Providers to resell services and manage customer billing, and Huawei Cloud’s reseller model lets partners bill and settle with their own customers. The reseller sits between the supplier’s terms and the customer’s way of paying.

The route: collect, convert, settle, reconcile

  1. Identify the receipt. Match the payer, the asset and the wallet, with source-of-funds and sanctions checks.
  2. Convert at a quoted rate. Show the rate and fees before execution.
  3. Settle the supplier. Pay the beneficiary in fiat on the bank rail.
  4. Reconcile to the bill. Record the amount received, the rate, fees, amount delivered, status and the obligation discharged, under one reference.

Connect the money to the contract

A useful treasury record links bank accounts, wallets, customer receipts and supplier invoices to the commitments behind them. For AI businesses that includes prepaid balances, usage records, credit expiry and minimum-spend schedules. The aim is to show what is available to spend, what is already owed, and what cash arrives before the next payment falls due.

A stablecoin, a blank invoice, a bank card and a server module linked together
One record links the receipt, the conversion, the supplier payment and the invoice it settles.

The same record supports financing. With the customer’s consent, a lender can see the linked contract, invoice, usage and collections. See AI supply chain financing.

Deploy only genuine surplus

A prepaid customer balance can look idle while it still funds a future service. Before any surplus is deployed, reserve for supplier settlements, minimum-spend obligations, debt service, payroll, taxes and refunds. Tokenised investments are not stablecoins or guaranteed cash.

When stablecoin settlement is worth it

Compare the whole route: card or bank fees, FX spreads, conversion costs, on-chain charges, prefunding and settlement timing. Use stablecoin settlement where the complete route improves cost, access or reliability. High-frequency token usage does not need one on-chain transfer per request; it can be metered and settled through top-ups or aggregated invoices.

Questions

What is a stablecoin treasury?

The accounts, wallets, controls and workflows a business uses to hold, convert and pay with stablecoins alongside fiat, with every movement recorded against the obligation it serves.

Can I pay a cloud bill with stablecoins?

Cloud providers generally bill in fiat. A treasury provider can collect stablecoins, convert them and pay the provider in fiat, then reconcile the payment to the invoice.

Are stablecoins the same as cash?

No. They need their own conversion, counterparty and permission controls. Tokenised investment products are different again and should not be described as stablecoins or guaranteed cash.

Who needs stablecoin and fiat treasury?

Businesses that collect on-chain but pay suppliers through banks, such as cloud resellers with Web3 customers and infrastructure operators with crypto-linked receipts.
